New Position: Senior Systems Administrator – AWS Solution Architect

The Digital Embassy is seeking a self-motivating, Senior Systems Administrator / AWS Solution Architect professional with information security experience to design, implement, direct, and manage customer and business solutions for our Adelaide based SME agency.

Our company offers a range of development and cloud services to established local and national enterprises including custom web design and web development solutions and AWS Cloud hosting services. The role is open to applicants who seek permanent full-time employment.

As a senior member of our team, you will be accountable for our IT systems, Information Security and Hosting Services for our agency. This includes maintaining our company IT operations, information security and infrastructure, business, and client hosting requirements, service agreement reporting,  architecting and implementing IT initiatives, server and systems performance, support functions, technology research and strategy, process improvement, and information technology, and security compliance.

The person we are looking for will have demonstrated success in a Senior Systems Administrator and will be an AWS certified professional role.  While not mandatory, previous local digital agency experience will be looked upon favourably.

 

Key Responsibilities

As Senior Systems Administrator / AWS Solution Architect you will be responsible for:

  • Providing strategic & technical direction and solutions to solve IT, hosting, information security and application-related business and client issues
  • Design and implement; automated, scalable, HA, secure, end to end environments in AWS for a range of clients
  • Manage, test and troubleshoot IT and security related issues, including systems backups, disaster recovery, access and cryptographic controls, data handling and management, incident management, archiving, networking and peripherals
  • Administering Linux and Windows servers
  • Maintaining existing internal  and AWS infrastructure, connectivity and system networks
  • Working with business stakeholders to interpret, scope and define technical support requirements for website hosting services and other IT systems initiatives
  • Support  and strengthen the agency’s IT operations, while improving IT outcomes across the business
  • Facilitate  and provide hands on web services support and training for clients
  • Implement and manage Docker deployment and orchestration
  • Designing and implementing developer support tools and systems
  • Design, implement and use monitoring tools
  • Identify ICT opportunities and risks,  and make actionable recommendations
  • Lead our agency to identify and implement new product and service opportunities for new business, and successfully implement these through to high commercial standards
  • Strengthening client relationships by providing excellent web services support and reporting
  • Facilitate effective relationships with strategic technical partners (AWS, Microsoft, TPG, Kentico, Google, FaktorTel, etc).
  • Ensure that the technology platforms and applications we use remain effective, monitored, secure and operational at all times, and maintained to a high standard according to business and technical strategy
  • Set IT systems standards and methods, and build consensus for their adoption, implementation and enforcement
  • Evaluate and perform regular auditing, risk assessment and impact analysis on hosting and other IT related systems, applications and services
  • Writing and preparing systems, solutions and incident reports for business and clients
  • Make recommendations to stakeholders ensuring that functional, service quality, security and systems management requirements are effectively met
  • Drive collaboration, knowledge sharing and IT and Information Security best practices amongst the business stakeholders
  • Work closely with our Operations, Development & Project Management teams

 

Skills

  • Experience in architecting, configuring, administrating and managing both Linux and Windows hosting solutions for customized Websites, Web Applications, Apps and Online Systems
  • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft’s Hyper-V hardware virtualization product
  • Experience in web hosting technology, application architecture, analysis and implementation
  • Hardware and software diagnostics, troubleshooting skills
  • Knowledge and validated credentials (certifications) in information security, cybersecurity, privacy and data management best practices
  • Knowledge and validated credentials (certifications) of cloud technologies such as Azure and AWS
  • Knowledge of macOS operating systems
  • Experience with integration and management of technologies, on-premises and in the cloud
  • Knowledge of Microsoft and Linux application development technologies
  • Knowledge of networking including VoIP and wireless
  • Scripting experience (Python / Bash / Powershell)
  • N2WS Backup and DR Administration
  • Experience in writing and preparing systems, solutions and incident reports
  • Excellent English written and verbal communication skills and be able to explain technical concepts in a laymen’s manner
  • Strong time management (ability to multi-task effectively ) and be able to meet deadlines
  • Experience working  within a team and autonomously as the only SA
  • Attention to detail required ensuring effective planning, implementation and execution
  • Understanding of IT planning, architecting, engineering, and operations across multiple disciplines
  • Strong relationship skills to effectively work in all areas of the business and successfully perform the required duties
  • Strong business acumen and aptitude to understand the key business drivers, and financial knowledge to ensure business value is delivered from ICT initiatives
  • Ability to conceptualise and think on your feet with senior business stakeholders to resolve issues and identify opportunities

Salary
